2009 YAMAHA V MAX SPECIFICATIONS AND FEATURES
Haven't you heard of muscle cars????? The featurs that distinguish them from other cars are quick straight-line acceleration, roaring exhaust and the body resembling the muscles of a body builder. In that sense, Yamaha's V Max is a two wheeler version of the muscle cars. It is more likely a muscle bike than a cruiser bike. Have a look at the features of new Yamaha V Max.
Birth of Yamaha V Max
Yamaha V Max was designed by Yamaha's British designer John Reed in 1985. His design was greatly influenced by the design of American muscle cars. Anyway, the model was a grand success in America. The handling of early models of V Max was very poor. The later versions provided better handling to the rider.
2009 Yamaha V Max-Engine
The 2009 model V Mas has several new features. It was exhibitted at the 2005 Tokyo motor show. The engine displacement has been increased to 1679cc. The max, power has been increased t0 about 200bhp (exactly 197.2 bhp). The new engine which uses fuel injection has Aluminium pistons and specially designed connecting rods. A counter balancer shaft reduces the engine vibration. The large aluminium air intakes in the front carries air to the airbox.
When the engine speed crosses 6650 rpm, the electronically controlled servo motors reduces the length of the inlet valve and helps to increase the power.
The wheelbase has been increased from 1590mm to 1700mm. The length of the swing arm has been increased by 35%. The width of the titanium coated front forks has been incresed to 52mm. The new 6 piston disc break and ABS ensures a safer ride.
Fuel Tank under the seat???
The poly-ethylene fuel tank of the new Yamaha V Max is under the seat. The fuel tank can be opened after turning the levers near the rear suspension. The fuel mode can be changed from "Main" mode to "Reserve" using the switch on the handle bar. There are switches for changing the suspension settings also.
New V Max has modern organic electro luminiscent display containing odo meter, trip meter, clock, fuel & temperature guages, fuel indicator etc.
